How do I actually do a class online?
All you need is ZOOM a very popular virtual meeting safe software that is FREE to download. Once you have that then we email you an INVITE link which you click and it takes you straight to the live class. All classes meet 15 mins early to say "hi" to each other and to get materials sorted.
How long is an online course?
10 weeks of one and a half hour sessions with a half term break.
I am a complete beginner - will I be okay?
Yes! Absolutely! You are very welcome. Our tutors pride themselves on helping students to feel comfortable and at ease with learning. The atmosphere will be supportive and non competitive - so forget your school days of art - this is a fun, friendly and non competitive course. Just look at the testimonials page for a sense of what the classes are like.
Do I need to provide all my own materials?
Yes you will need:
FOR DRAWING CLASSES:
HB / 2 B / 4B pencils
A4 cartridge drawing paper
A fine liner pen
Felt tip pens
FOR WATERCOLOUR COURSES:
Brushes ( a size 6 and a size 12)
2 x jars for water
Watercolour paper (cold pressed 'not' paper)
Where are you based?
I live in leafy North London and work from home delivering online sessions. Our guest tutors deliver their online sessions from their homes in North / West /East London.
Can I try out a class before I pay for the whole course?
Yes! Absolutely. You can have 1 x free session on us and see how you like it.
Can I just reserve a place and pay you when the course starts?
Due to limited spaces, we do require a full payment of £110 before the course starts.
I don't like doing BACS transfer - can I just pay by cheque instead?
Unfortunately we don't take cheques.
For Art Holidays the deposit of £323.75 needs to be paid to by Bank Transfer to confirm your place.
Do you include flights for the holidays and transfers to from the airport?
The price of the holiday does not include flights, transfers, evening meals except the welcome supper, medical insurance, taxis from the airport or return ferries. The taxis will cost about £30 each way. The ferries are very frequent throughout the day and night and run roughly every 45 minutes or so and cost approximately £4.50 each way. What is the minimum Age requirement for your Adult courses?
18 years old. We do offer kids classes during the summer (such as our Animation course in August ) and our tutors also offer an ONLINE specialist Portfolio guidance / support service to help get folios together for art school applications. This costs £40 per hour.
For Art Holidays guests should be aged 18 years plus. There is no maximum age but you will need to be fit enough to climb stairs in the guesthouse and also have basic mobility for leisurely ambling / walking around drawing locations /sites.
Do you have any certificated /qualification courses?
Not now but we may do in the future.
However we can offer Art in the Village TM achievement certificates if requested.
Do you have large class sizes?
We tend to keep a maximum of 12 in any online Art class so each student gets the attention and guidance they need.
For Art Holidays we tend to keep class sizes to around 8 students.
For Art Holidays picnic lunches, one welcome supper and all 6 x nights accommodation are included. Plus your guest house will make you a fresh breakfast each morning.
Do you do drop in / pay per session prices?
We offer one FREE drop in class to see if you like it.
Do you give refunds if I miss a class?
No sorry we don't and there are no 'make up' classes either. However if you miss 3 x sessions or more, then we do offer a £20 discount off the next course.
Will you refund if I cannot attend the holiday?
Unfortunately we cannot refund any deposits however you can redeem your deposit against any future Art in the Village® holidays ** as long as it is redeemed within 18 months of payment.
